In this digital age everyone has access to a camera, but that doesn't make them a photographer. Give me an expensive hammer and chisel and I'm still no carpenter! There is so much more that a professional commercial or corporate photographer can offer. Understanding light and how to control it is an important factor. Lack of light is often a major challenge, and again, an amateur would struggle to get quality images in this situation. Use of flash is a subtle art. Too often I see harsh flash and contrasty shadows in an image where the flash has not been controlled.
OTHER SKILLS
Increasingly photographers have to be skilled in image retouching. Very rarely these days is the final image you see in a magazine a true representation of the actual RAW image which was shot. I am expert in the use of Photoshop, having carried out retouching work for E.ON Energy.
